Hugging the edge of the Embarcadero, San Francisco’s landmark Ferry Building, which was reborn two years ago as a gourmet marketplace, has become one of the city’s most alluring destinations, especially if you’re hungry and only artisanal cheese or a plate of Hog Island oysters will do. Capitalizing on, and perhaps nudging along, the area’s revival, the Hotel Vitale opened across the street in March. The guest rooms soothe with muted hues - sea green, limestone, pear - and feature 440-thread count sheets and flat panel TV’s. The buttermilk pancakes at Americano, the hotel restaurant, are scrumptious. |
